Debit Card Update

Excessive Number of Debit Cards— We are blocking and
issuing more and more debit cards because they are lost or
from a fraudulent purchase. Please keep your debit card
safe!! Be careful about where you use your card when making
online purchases. Google the name of the company plus the
word scam in the same sentence! Check the reviews, go thru
a safe and secure online payment system. Use caution with
sites outside of the US. If you “sign up” for a trial product,
make sure you read the fine print to cancel the subscription.
There is a $4 charge to replace a debit or credit card.
Beginning July 1, MCCU will implement this fee schedule:
After the 5th card, the member will pay $10 for a replacement.
Each lost card after that will be $3 more.
Card #5 =$10; #6 =$13; #7 =$16; #8 =$19; #9 =$22
Card #10 =no more cards will be issued to this member.
We will however, assess cards lost in the mail or fraudulent
transactions on a situational basis.
We will insist on speaking with the actual cardholder before
ordering another card. The phone number must be the
cardholder’s, not a parent, spouse or grandparent. Please
also let us know if your phone number changes.
Remember to always keep your debit or credit cards in
your possession and do not share your PIN with anyone

What’s the Difference?

What’s the Difference?

Membership
The major difference between a bank and a credit union is the people who own it. Banks are corporations that pay earnings to shareholders while credit unions are member owned cooperatives that share their returns with members (owners) in the form of competitive rates for savings, CDs, loans, mortgages, etc.
Profit
Since banks are profit driven institutions, they must factor share holder profits into their business model, and in turn typically charge customers higher fees and rates to pay out those profits.
Financial Security
Another common misconception is that big banks offer more security for your money. The reality is that the NCUA (National Credit Union Administration) insures members up to 250k, the exact same amount as the FDIC!
Technology
In addition, credit unions offer the same electronic and high-tech features that big banks have but with unmatched hometown service, you can only get locally. MCCU provides members access to their money 24/7 with online banking, a mobile app and mobile check deposit!
Over 115 million Americans have already made the switch, learn how you can start getting more from your money, with McPherson Co-Op Credit Union!

Visa Purchase Alerts For Your Cards

Visa Purchase Alerts For Your Cards

With near real-time alerts from MCCU powered by Visa, you can receive updates on your Visa® card activity. And this unique service is available free for MCCU Visa cardholders.
After your Visa card has been used, you’ll receive an alert through text message or email. If there is fraudulent activity, you can find out within minutes and act quickly to resolve the situation.
How you use the service is up to you. You can choose to receive alerts when your Visa card is used for purchases over a specified amount, online transactions, purchases outside the United States, and more. You can even customize the purchase amount threshold—for example, setting it to only receive alerts for purchases above $50.
Select the delivery options that best meet your needs, with text messages, emails, or both for extra security and convenience. Each alert contains important information, including the purchase amount, merchant name and location (if available), and the last [four] digits of the Visa card used to keep you best informed.
All this for free for MCCU Visa cardholders. Sign up for Visa Alerts at visa.com/alerts today, or click under ‘Links’ here on our website.
